Most of what’s on this site — the sensors, the hubs, the local and cloud tooling — exists because we built it for a real site that needed it. That’s the actual product: custom monitoring, end to end, for places where nothing off the shelf fits.
If you run a large or unusual site and you’ve got something that needs watching, switching, or understanding — and the commercial IoT platforms either don’t cover it or want a subscription per device to do so — we can build the thing that does.
What we build
- Custom sensors — measure or switch whatever your site needs: level, current, vibration, hours-run, position, presence, temperature, pulse. If it produces a signal, we can read it; if it takes a relay, we can drive it.
- Custom hubs — on-site receivers tuned to your range, your terrain, and your transport: LoRa, mesh, or satellite.
- Monitoring & alerts — the right alert to the right person at the right time, whether that’s a buzzer in a shed, a screen on a wall, or a push to a phone.
- Data analysis & presentation — this is where we specialise. Turning raw readings into dashboards, reports, and trends that actually answer the question you had — and keeping that data yours, local first, with an optional private cloud copy.
Sites we’ve built for (and ones we’d love to)
OGLAS started on farms — and farms are still a great proving ground — but the same toolkit fits a lot more than paddocks:
- Farms & remote properties — gates, troughs, tanks, fences, vehicles, power. The original use case, and still our test bed.
- Fishing — boats, traps, and gear in places with no coverage at all; long soak times, salt water, and “did it move?” as the question that matters.
- Fleets & asset tracking — golf carts, utes, trailers, generators: where is it, is it running, how many hours since service, who’s using it.
- Factory equipment — forklifts and plant: utilisation, idle time, location within a yard or warehouse, fault and service flags.
- Power & solar sites — production, consumption, and battery state across an off-grid install, feeding rules that switch real loads. See power management.
If your thing isn’t on this list, it probably still fits. The pattern — sense it, get the data home, make sense of it, alert on it — is the same whether it’s a trough or a turbine.
How we work
- Tell us the problem, not the product. “I can’t tell which forklift is sitting idle” is a better starting point than “I need an IoT platform”.
- We scope a build — which sensors, which hub transport, what the local analysis looks like, and whether you want an off-site cloud copy.
- We prototype on real hardware — often on a farm first, because farms are an honest, harsh test environment.
- We deliver something you own — hardware that’s yours, data in open formats, no subscription holding it hostage. See Your data is your data.
